As one of the nation’s largest single-source providers of lighting and electrical products, electrical services, electrical construction, and energy management solutions, Facility Solutions Group is expanding its staff and seeking a Solar Operations Manager to join the FSG team.

 

Job Description

As a Solar Operations Manager in our Renewable Energy Division, you will oversee the operational execution of solar projects, ensuring financial accuracy, process efficiency, and team success. You will be responsible for managing project budgets, job costing, employee credit card allocations, and work-hour tracking using FSG’s proprietary systems, COINS and Job Intelligence. Your leadership will be crucial in driving operational excellence, optimizing workflows, and ensuring project success.

Responsibilities

As an FSG Solar Operations Manager, you will:

  • Oversee and manage project budgets, financial forecasting, and cost control using COINS and Job Intelligence.
  • Ensure accurate job costing by tracking work hours, materials, and expenses across multiple projects.
  • Administer and monitor employee credit card allocations, ensuring compliance with company policies and budget constraints.
  • Work closely with project managers, estimators, and field teams to align operational processes with project goals.
  • Identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements to enhance productivity and cost-effectiveness.
  • Maintain real-time tracking of labor hours and job expenses to support financial reporting and decision-making.
  • Collaborate with accounting and finance teams to ensure proper documentation and reconciliation of project expenditures.
  • Provide training and support to team members on the use of COINS and Job Intelligence for financial and operational management.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop team members, providing training and support on best operational practices, financial management, and FSG’s proprietary systems.
  • Foster a culture of accountability and professional development, ensuring that each team member has the tools and guidance needed to succeed.
  • Conduct regular team meetings and one-on-one coaching sessions to provide feedback, address challenges, and encourage continuous improvement.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to budget adherence, cost efficiency, and operational effectiveness.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders to drive alignment on project execution.

Qualifications

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will satisfy the following requirements and qualifications:

 

Required:

  • Strong leadership and organizational skills with a focus on process improvement.
  • Experience managing budgets, job costing, and financial tracking within construction or renewable energy projects.
  • Proficiency in proprietary software – “COINS, Job Intelligence”, or similar project management and financial tracking systems.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and project metrics.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Effective communication skills to engage with internal teams, finance departments, and project managers.
  • Commitment to fostering a culture of accountability, efficiency, and collaboration.

Preferred:

  • 5+ years of experience in solar operations, project management, or construction finance.
  • Experience in renewable energy, electrical contracting, or construction industries.
  • Familiarity with solar project workflows, permitting, and interconnection processes.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Construction Management, Finance, or a related field.
