As a Safety Manager, you are responsible for ensuring the safe operation of all safety

systems, with an emphasis on electrical systems within the organization. This role involves developing and implementing

safety policies and procedures, conducting risk assessments, providing training, and promoting a positive safety culture.

 

In addition, the Safety Manager plays a critical role in mitigating safety hazards, complying with safety regulations, and fostering a safe work environment. You will eliminate or control at-risk behaviors or conditions resulting from human error, equipment and machine operations which may lead to human injury and/or property damage. Investigate incidents involving injury or property damage. Coordinate site safety inspections for compliance against OSHA regulations and company policies and procedures. Train and educate employees and supervisors on OSHA requirements and company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

A Safety Manager will:

  • Travel throughout assigned territory to inspect and verify compliance of OSHA regulations as well as company policies and procedures
  • Lead investigations of all incidents, accidents, and near-misses. Determine root causes, develop corrective actions, and communicate findings to management. Maintain accurate incident records and prepare reports for regulatory authorities as required
  • Ensure compliance with electrical safety regulations, codes, and standards (e.g., National Electrical Code - NEC, Occupational Safety and Health Administration - OSHA). Stay updated with changes in regulations and implement necessary adjustments to maintain compliance
  • Lead and conduct regular risk assessments and hazard identification related to electrical systems and equipment, in addition to all other required safety systems. Identify potential hazards, evaluate associated risks, and implement preventive measures to minimize or eliminate hazards
  • Perform routine audits to assess safety conditions in construction, service, and data departments. Identify non-compliance issues, safety deficiencies, and areas for improvement
  • Promote a strong safety culture throughout the organization. Engage employees at all levels, raise awareness about safety hazards, and encourage active participation in safety initiatives. Recognize and reward individuals and teams for their commitment to safety Develop, implement, and periodically review safety programs, policies, and procedures to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and organizational objectives
  • Analyze safety metrics and trends to identify patterns, assess performance, and provide recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Implement behavior-based safety (BBS) strategies to promote proactive hazard identification and peer accountability across job sites
  • Utilize digital safety management systems and technologies for inspections, incident reporting, training records, and compliance tracking
  • Oversee administration for fleet services and assigned company equipment
  • Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to safety. Identify opportunities for process improvements, training enhancements, or safety-related initiatives
  • Deliver safety training programs for employees, contractors, and relevant personnel. Train employees on safe work practices, with an emphasis on electrical system hazards and prevention
  • Interact and communicate with all levels of management in a professional manner
  • Ensure that PTPs are performed in accordance with company policy
  • Ensure that all required paperwork, monthly inspections, PTPs, audits, TBTs are distributed to local safety team in a timely manner
  • Support all Safety Coordinators and Site Safety Representatives, as needed
  • Will report to the Director of Safety and Risk

Qualifications

  • 5-10 yrs or proven experience in electrical safety or safety management, preferably in commercial or industrial environments
  • Associates Degree in occupational safety, construction management or a related field preferred.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Electrical Safety Compliance Professional - CESCP) (e.g. Construction Health and Safety Technician - CHST)
  • Ideal candidate would possess Journeyman's Electrical License
  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • Must possess valid drivers license
  • Must possess OSHA 500
  • Proficiency in incident reporting and documentation
