Responsibilities

Job Description

The Facilities Maintenance Specialist ensures the cleanliness, upkeep, and operational functionality of office buildings, common areas, and facility equipment. This role involves performing a mix of janitorial, basic maintenance, and various repair-related tasks to keep the facility in optimal condition.

 

The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver with strong attention to detail, a proactive approach to maintenance and cleaning, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team to ensure a safe and well-maintained environment.

 

As a Facilities Maintenance Specialist, you will:

● Perform daily cleaning of office spaces, common areas, restrooms, break rooms, and conference rooms.

● Restock and maintain supplies, including toiletries, paper products, and cleaning materials.

● Sweep, mop, vacuum, and disinfect surfaces to ensure a clean and sanitary workplace.

● Empty trash and recycling bins, ensuring proper waste disposal procedures.

● Monitor and report any sanitation or facility issues, such as leaks, spills, or pest concerns.

● Perform basic repairs such as fixing door handles, replacing light bulbs, tightening loose fixtures, and addressing minor plumbing issues.

● Conduct routine inspections to identify maintenance needs and safety hazards.

● Assist with minor painting, drywall patching, and furniture assembly or repairs.

● Change HVAC filters and troubleshoot basic climate control concerns.

● Maintain small equipment and tools, ensuring they are in good working order.

● Assist in moving office furniture, setting up for meetings, or rearranging office layouts as needed.

● Work with vendors or contractors on more extensive facility repairs and maintenance projects.

● Ensure exterior areas, including parking lots and sidewalks, remain clean, free of debris, and safe for employees and visitors.

● Support emergency facility needs, such as water leaks, electrical failures, or urgent repairs.

● Ensure the facility is compliant with OSHA safety regulations and company guidelines.

● Monitor and address safety concerns related to building maintenance and janitorial services.

● Follow all security and access control procedures, reporting any unusual activity.

The ideal candidate will satisfy the following requirements and qualifications:

 

Required

● Detail-oriented and proactive in identifying facility maintenance needs.

● Strong time management and organizational skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently.

● Self-motivated and able to work independently while also being a team player.

● Ability to follow instructions, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing needs.

● Strong communication skills to interact with employees, vendors, and management effectively.

● Basic repair skills, including knowledge of painting, plumbing, electrical repairs, and minor carpentry.

● Experience with floor care equipment, power tools, and cleaning chemicals.

● Ability to read and follow maintenance checklists, safety guidelines, and repair instructions.

● Basic knowledge of building systems, general repairs, and cleaning protocols.

● Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and perform physical tasks.

● Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a drug and background screening.

● High School diploma or GED required.

 

Preferred

● Familiarity with HVAC systems, building maintenance best practices, and safety procedures.

● 1-3 years of experience in facilities maintenance, janitorial services, or repair work.

Pay Range

USD $17.00 - USD $20.00 /Hr.
