Overview

The Electrical Safety Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining electrical safety programs to ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, and other relevant regulations. This role involves conducting safety training, inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations to promote a culture of electrical safety in the workplace. The Electrical Safety Coordinator works closely with management, electricians, and safety personnel to mitigate hazards and ensure a safe working environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement electrical safety policies and procedures in compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, NEC, and company standards.

• Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments of electrical work areas and equipment.

• Provide training on electrical safety procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), arc flash protection, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

• Investigate electrical incidents and near misses, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.

• Collaborate with engineers, electricians, and management to ensure proper electrical safety protocols are followed.

• Maintain and update electrical safety documentation, including hazard assessments, job safety analyses (JSAs), and training records.

• Assist in selecting appropriate PPE and tools to minimize electrical risks.

• Serve as the point of contact for regulatory agencies and external auditors regarding electrical safety compliance.

• Stay current on electrical safety regulations, standards, and best practices and ensure company compliance.

• Participate in safety committee meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (preferred).

• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in electrical safety, electrical maintenance, or a related role.

• Experience working in construction, industrial, or manufacturing environments with electrical hazards.

 

Certifications:

• Certified Electrical Safety Compliance Professional (CESCP) (Preffered)

• Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) (Prefferred)

• OSHA 30-Hour Construction or General Industry

• NFPA 70E Certification or training

• NCCER Craft Instructor (Preffered)

 

 

Knowledge & Skills:

• Strong understanding of OSHA 1910 and 1926 standards related to electrical safety.

• Knowledge of NFPA 70E (Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace).

• Ability to conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.

• Experience developing and delivering safety training programs.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage employees at all levels.

• Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team to drive safety initiatives.

 

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work in industrial, construction, and manufacturing environments with potential exposure to electrical hazards.

• May require standing, walking, climbing ladders, or working in confined spaces.

• Must be able to wear appropriate PPE, including safety glasses, gloves, and arc flash gear.
